About This

• Three replacement cartridges for the 1A-30 position, which covers three annual services or three heating seasons on one system. Buying the interval at once means the filter gets changed when it should rather than when the replacement finally arrives, which on a heating system usually means after something has already gone wrong.
• The nozzle is what this protects, and it is the reason a cheap cartridge matters more than its price suggests. An oil burner nozzle meters fuel through an opening measured in thousandths of an inch, machined to give a specific spray pattern at a specific rate. Anything that gets past the filter either blocks that opening or wears it out of shape.
• Tank sediment is the usual culprit rather than the oil itself. Water condenses inside a tank through the warm months, rust forms on the walls, and sludge settles quietly at the bottom. Then the level drops in deep winter, the pickup line draws closer to that sediment, and everything that has been sitting there all year heads for the burner.
• Replace at each annual burner service or at the start of the heating season, whichever comes first. If the system has been shut down over summer, change the cartridge before the first firing rather than after: a filter that spent six months holding sediment is not the one you want working on the coldest night.
• Fits standard fuel oil filter canisters that take the 1A-30 cartridge, also listed as 88cr. Check your canister before ordering, since fuel oil filter bodies are not standardised the way water filter housings are, and a cartridge that is close but not exact will bypass rather than seal.
