• String wound is a construction, not a marketing word. Polypropylene cord is wound over a central core in a graded pattern, open at the outside and tighter toward the centre, so water passes through the full thickness of the media rather than being stopped at one face.
• That depth is why it suits well water. A well carries sand, silt, clay and iron rust in sizes that change through the year, and a wound cartridge keeps flow steady far longer on that kind of supply than a surface filter of the same rating, which would blind off in weeks.
• Fits all standard 9-3/4 by 2.5 inch housings, the same size as WFPFC4002, WFPFC3002, CW-F, CW-MF, WP-5, W50PE, SPC-25-1050, FM-50-975 and WB-50W. If the cartridge you are pulling out measures roughly 10 inches long and 2.5 inches across, this fits regardless of the name on the system.
• This is sediment media: it captures particles and nothing else. There is no carbon in a string wound cartridge, so it does not change the taste or odor of your water.
